The
primary function of the Education Sector
Advisory Team (ESAT) is to respond to the
needs of the education system in Nepal in
general and those of the school level education
in particular. As an advisory function,
ESAT is to provide technical inputs and
professional advice to the Ministry of Education
and Sports in the process of planning program
designing, and implementation of educational
programs. Further, ESAT provides logistical
support and coordinates activities in order
to ensure effectiveness of implementation.
ESAT also maintains contacts to NGOs and
others involved in activities, which are
related to, but not directly part of, programme
components. Programme officers have been
assigned duties that have to be carried
out through DOE and other central level
agencies.

ESAT is located at Ministry of Education
and Sports, Kesharmahal, Kathmandu, and
Department of Education, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.
ESAT is manned by a chief technical advisor,
specialist advisors, programme officers,
finance and office managers, administrative
and other staff.
While the Chief Technical Advisor and the
management staff are situated in Keshar Mahal,
the specialist advisors and programme officers
are stationed in the Department of Education
Complex in Sanothimi to work closely with
their counterparts.
