BASIC PRIMARY AND EDUCATION PROGRAMME II (1998-2004)
Basic Primary Education Programme II was launched by the Government of Nepal with the technical and financial support of five major donors: DANIDA, EU, IDA, NORAD and the government of Finland. ADB, JICA and UNICEF also provided support to the program.

BPEP II was a comprehensive educational reform program, especially focused to basic and primary education and based on the first phase BPEP I (1993 to 1998) i.e. provide access to quality primary education in a sustainable manner to all children of Nepal.

BPEP II had the following three objectives:
  • Improve the quality of primary education
  • Increase access to basic and primary education
  • Strengthen institutional capacity
